You know times are tough when church elders are pawing off church bells for extra scratch.Tis' the season I guess...

According to the Sheboygan Press, a 57-year-old Wisconsin elder at First Presbyterian Church has been charged with stealing four cases of hand bells from his church and pawning them. Said hand bells were worth about 10-thousand dollars!

Turns our after some of the missing bells were pawned someone sold them on eBay and the winning bidder received the bells and had the common decency to call the church to alert them that he'd just bought bells that had documents stating they belonged to the church. (You'd think a thief would want to remove something like that.)

It didn't take police long to follow that trail back to our crooked holy man. Now, he is facing felony theft charges and could land in jail for up to three years.

I'm pretty sure most churches have a rule against this type of thing. Thou shalt not....something, something.
