The thought of going to jail is more than enough to deter me from a life of crime. But this New Mexico inmate certainly didn’t learn his lesson in the slammer.

On his way out of jail he stole $80 from another inmate that was being booked.

According to KOAT, another inmate was being booked and his belongings were on a table. The booking guard’s back was turned when our 20-year-old inmate, who was being released from prison stole $80 in cash from the table.

He took his ill-gotten cash and treated himself to a nice lunch, instead of going directly to the electronic monitoring office that he was supposed to be reporting to.

When he did finally show up he admitted to the theft, surrendered the rest of the cash and was taken back to jail, adding larceny charges to his rap sheet.

I'm going to say he probably hasn't learned his lesson yet.
