Guess what? If you pay at a convenience store with your debit card, and then try to rob the place, police will track you down very quickly.

Apparently, this was news to a man in West Virginia.

According to The Charleston Gazette, a 33-year-old man walked into a convenience store, told the manager he had a gun and demanded all the money in the register.

But, about that time another customer walked into the store and our criminal mastermind wanted to look like a ‘normal’ shopper, so he whipped out his debit card and paid for a soft drink. He cleverly singed his receipt “Jon Doe” (Because there is no way anyone would trace your debit card back to you…).

With another customer in the store, the crook got flustered and left without any money.

Police tracked him down and he’s facing charges or armed robbery, although he’s telling police he was just joking around when he said he had a gun and asked for money.

I’m not sure what kind of games this guys plays, buy “I have a gun, empty the drawer” doesn’t sound like a very fun game to me.
