BooksI’m pretty sure that books on Zen, karma, religion, politics or even a Dr. Seuss book would teach most people that there are better ways of finding the meaning of life than stealing.

However, a young man from China stole over 800 books searching for it.

According to Rocket News 24, a book shop owner had noticed a large number of books go missing from his shop so he called police to come watch for thieves. Police noticed this young man who was showing up at the same time nearly every day and making off with a bike load of new books. Police confronted him and he confessed, but had told them that he was “searching for the meaning of life.”

Turn out this guy had been stealing books from the same shop for nearly six-months!

[He] had amassed a collection of more than 800 titles in less than six months, hitting the same shop three or four times a week. After reading the books, he would sell them on, using whatever money he made for day-to-day expenses.

Hasn’t this guy ever heard of a library? (They have those in China, right?)

Then again, I’m assuming he was searching more for a way to pay rent more than the meaning of life. If he was “reading” them and then selling them he would have had to been finishing more than four books per day. Nobody reads four textbooks in one day.
