Asking someone to marry you and having them say no would be a nightmare. It happened to a man in Australia, but the would-be bride received a bill from him, totaling $184,000 for all the money he claims to have spent on her.

According to IBNLive, the 65-year-old man had been dating a 42-year-old single mother for about four years. She says they were never romantically involved, but he says she made him believe she was ‘the one’ and encouraged him to spend money on things like Zumba classes, shopping trips and cosmetic surgery for her.

He ended up asking for her hand in marriage and she turned the guy down.

He responds by handing “An itemized bill outlining every single penny he ever gave her or spent on her behalf.”

Now technically there is no actual crime going on here, but I still feel there is something crooked enough about this story to warrant it making my dumb criminals list.

If she did lead him on to believe she would marry him and spent all his money and then turned him down, that would be pretty shady. On the other hand, demanding retribution for all the money he spent on her doesn’t seem right either. Can you imagine what kind of precedent that would sent if you could send a bill to all of your exes and bat dates demanding back the money you wasted on them?

I have a feeling this is going to end up in court.
