A South Dakota grandmother got four tickets in less than three hours while rushing to see her granddaughter in Wisconsin.  When I first saw this story, I assumed she was going to see the granddaughter’s birth… turns out she was just in a big hurry to try and make a dance recital.

According to the Star Tribune, the grandma was making a 525-mile drive from her home in Sioux Falls all the way to Racine, Wisconsin to her granddaughter’s dance recital. She was busted by police for speeding four separate times on her trip.

She was first pulled over for driving 112 miles per hour, and was also cited for driving without insurance and possession of Marijuana. (I’m guessing that was for sitting through the recital?)

20 miles down the highway she was pulled over again for driving 99 miles per hour. An hour later flashing lights caught up with her again, this time for doing 88 miles per hour. And she managed to get the 4th ticket shortly after that, this one also for driving 88 miles per hour.

And to no one’s surprise, grandma still didn’t make the dance recital on time. Maybe leaving a few hours earlier would be a good plan for next time.

Now think about that little rash of traffic infractions. If I were pulled over going 112 with no insurance and a bag of weed, I’d be in jail. But grandma here got to go all Grand Theft Auto on a 525-mile drive and just gets four measly speeding tickets?  She had even been convicted, twice, of driving under the influence in d in 2005 and 2007.

Bad Grandma!
