Police in Grand Junction are looking for a man who stole...a monkey.

Apparently he met a woman in a hotel parking lot to buy the monkey and instead, pepper sprayed her and stole it.

First of all, it is illegal to posses a black cap Capuchin monkey in the state of Colorado, let alone, buy or sell one, so this may be a case of one dumb criminal stealing from another.

According to the Grand Junction Sentinel, a woman from Missouri had traveled to our fine state to try and sell her monkey.  She had plans to meet a buyer in the parking lot of a La Quinta Inn on Crossroads Boulevard and at their meeting her 'buyer' sprayer her in the face with peppers spray and stole the monkey!

The suspect was described to police as a Middle Eastern male, 35 to 40 years, 5 feet, 5 inches tall, with a thin build and a short beard. He was wearing glasses, a blue shirt and possibly a vest. Anyone with information on the incident or the suspect is asked to call 970-242-6707, or Crime Stoppers, 970-241-STOP.

I'm guessing a 6AM illegal monkey deal gone bad was not what Grand Junction police were expecting when they came to work.
