Dumb Criminal of the Day – Woman Steals Credit Card, Uses it Next Door

Most thieves know to leave the immediate area after stealing something.  Apparently, though, Estellamarie Ruiz was absent the day they covered that at thieving college.

Last April, a Chicago woman was at a gas station when she noticed her wallet was missing.  When police arrived, she told officers that she had seen a green van leaving the gas station a few minutes prior.

She checked with her bank, and it turned out her missing card had already been used right across the street at a McDonald's restaurant.

When police arrived at McDonald's parking lot, they found the suspect green van, along with the the Family Ruiz eating inside of it. Her receipt was matched to the stolen credit. And police soon discovered she'd also stopped to buy gas at a nearby station, then dumped the stolen wallet in the garbage.

Ruiz was charged with misuse of a credit card and felony identity theft.  I sure hope those burgers were worth it!
