Most of us have called faked calling in sick  or played hooky from school at least once in our lives. It happens. Sometimes you really just need to stay home. But, a man in Pennsylvania took things a little too far to try and steal away an extra day off.

What did he do?

This 45-year-old went so far as to publish a fake obituary for his living mother in order to finagle a paid bereavement day out of his boss.

I guess he should have told his family about his plan first because they are the ones who first called the paper to report the “error”.Relatives called "The Jeffersonian Democrat" newspaper after the obituary was published to report that she was alive and well. The mother even went to visit the paper to prove she was not dead.

The paper editor apologized and said that he had published the death notice in good faith after receiving it from her son.

Police arrested 'Mr. Bereavement Day' and charged him with disorderly conduct. Police  said the man wrote the fake obituary because he didn’t want to get fired for taking time off of work.

I’m guessing he is going to have a LOT of time off after this little incident.
