If you plan on making a career out of carjacking, you might want to learn how to drive a stick.

In Florida, two wannabe carjackers found out the hard way that you need to be able to drive a car before you can steal it.

According to the St. Petersburg Times the attempted robbery happened around 1AM on Friday. The victims had come to drop off a work truck to a gated parking lot. After dropping off the truck they were returning to their own vehicle and were approached by two men.

One of the men pointed a gun at the victims, told them to hand over their money and cell phones and to get out of the car. (They handed them one phone and no cash.)

The victims obeyed and watched to two crooks jump in their Nissan and attempt a clean getaway.

There was one small problem, the car had a manual transmission and it turns out neither man could drive it.

After a few lurches and a few failed attempts to put the car in gear the criminal masterminds gave up and fled the scene on foot.

"Outwitted by a manual transmission" is not a phrase you want to add to any kind resume.
