Petty vandalism is a pretty stupid thing to do to anything, let alone a 3,500-year-old historical Egyptian relic. A 15-year-old in China embarrassed his parents by doing just that.

What did he carve in the relic? His own name...

According to Gawker, a family in Nanjing, China,  recently found out their 15-year-old son defaced the 3,500-year-old Egyptian relic by carving "Ding Jinhao was here." (Ding Jinhao being the kid's name.)

His parents apologized to the Egyptian people and to everyone who visited the display in China, they said they had failed to "properly educate their child."

Desecrating a priceless artifact, I think that goes a little beyond, "kids just being kids."
