Brazilian Man Gets Stuck In Wall Trying To Escape From Prison

I’ve never understood why people try to escape from prison for “small” crimes such as theft. I imagine the punishment for theft wouldn’t be that severe and the penalty you’d face for trying to escape is probably astronomically higher.

But, a man in Brazil did just that. He and his beer gut actually got stuck in the hole he had dug through a wall trying to escape from jail.

According to ABC News, the 28-year-old had been charged with theft and decided to work with another inmate to tunnel through the jail’s shower wall and escape. His smaller-statured friend went first and actually escaped. (He is still on the lamb), but our guy made waist -deep through the hole before getting stuck.

Other inmates tried to push him through, but all that did was cause him to scream out in pain and alert the nearby guards to what was going on.

They were able to document the near-escape in the photos below. You can actually see some of the guards laughing at the guy. (And rightfully so!)

I wonder if the little guy who did escape had it planned this way from the start.
