A man lost his hand after it was bitten off by an alligator last month in Florida. He was leading a family on a tour when he encountered the 9-foot alligator that took off his hand.

Now, here is where the ‘stupid’ part comes into play. The man was arrested after an investigation found that we was feeding and provoking the gators when they got his hand.

According to New-Press.com, the 63-year-old had his air boat passengers hanging fish over the side and had his hand out over the surface of the water when the gator attacked.

Around here, we're not supposed to feed the bears. In Florida you're not supposed to feed the gators for pretty much the same reason. They're scared of people, until people start giving them food.

Feeding alligators is illegal. Those who feed an alligator face a second-degree misdemeanor, with a fine of up to $500 and possible jail time.

So, adding insult to injury, this guy is facing misdemeanor charges for feeding his own hand to an alligator.

I wonder how this will affect his gator tour-guide status.
