Stuff That's Cool

In news that you probably knew as soon as you heard Marvel's The Avengers was breaking all-time box office records, a sequel has officially been green-lit!

I make no qualms about my Doctor Who fandom in the past, so I know this is news that "Whovians" will appreciate.  Scientists at Dundee University saw the Doctor's trademark gadget, the sonic screwdriver, and said, "Hey, we can do that."  So they did.  They built a real sonic screwdriver!

Leave it to the Japanese to take something as beloved as beer, and make it weirder and more awesome at the same time.  Hence the reason this story is both your Daily Dose of Weird and the latest installment of Stuff That's Cool!

Exploring the universe is getting more futuristic and user-friendly, thanks to the awesome app Microsoft Technology Center is working on.

Some of my fondest childhood memories are of playing video games with friends.  The hot video game systems back then were the Sega Genesis and the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.  Between my friends and I, we had both systems, and all of our gaming bases covered.  We had some great times.

How many times have you tried to take a picture with your digital camera, only to have it come out wrong? Sometimes, the shutter delay makes you miss the moment you were trying to capture. Other times, the auto-focus completely freaks out, and that hilarious picture of all your friends turns out to be a crystal clear image of...the wall behind them. Am I right?

Occasionally...okay, often...I'll be driving, looking at other cars, and sigh, "It's almost 2012.  Where are all the future-cars?"  Back to the Future: Part 2 led me to believe we would have flying cars by 2015, so shouldn't we at least have something less...conventional by now?
