More than 10,000 of you voted and chose the finalists for NoCo’s Best restaurants. From breakfast nooks to Asian establishments and food trucks, we were delighted to see all of your favorite eateries in Northern Colorado. Now, after our esteemed judges have paid a visit to your favorite breakfast restaurants, ate some delicious dishes, and engaged in some heated debates, they have come to their decision.

Here are the finalists for NoCo’s Best Breakfast.

1. Lucile’s Creole Cafe

As a person who has deep family roots in the bayou, I can easily say that the look and the vibe of Lucile’s is right on the money, from the sunny yellow of their restaurant to the colorful murals decorating the porch. The service was impeccable, and the food was on a whole other level, regardless of whether you wanted to go sweet or savory. Our French toast came with a beautiful, melt-in-your-mouth apple cinnamon sauce that I kept for days after our visit, carefully measuring it out for as long as I could make it last, and our eggs benedict came on a tart lemon trout as bright as Lucile's yellow exterior.

As well as this, simply put, Lucile’s beignets are poetry in your mouth. Need I say more? Any dish from Lucile's is guaranteed to make you want to order 10 more plates.

2. Doug's Diner

When we paid a visit to Doug's Diner, it was a peaceful Thursday morning but Doug's was already getting down to business. We were immediately greeted with warm service and a plethora of recommendations, which quickly landed us with a hearty breakfast fit for a cowboy. The pancakes were light and fluffy and the hash browns were just the right amount of crispy, and it goes without saying that Doug's didn't skimp on the portion sizes, either. Needless to say, when you head over to Doug's Diner, be sure to come hungry.

3. Silver Grill Cafe

I have a confession to make: I, a Fort Collins transplant of many years, have never been the Silver Grill Cafe. I know, I know, I have no excuse for my negligence, but I have to say I was more than happy to correct my error. The Silver Grill Cafe's warm, vintage ambiance  was on perfect display as sunlight streamed through the skylights above us, and they immediately started us off with one of their legendary cinnamon rolls. I'm not typically a fan of nuts, but their pecan cinnamon roll was a thing of beauty: warm, buttery and the perfect amount of sweetness.

But what really shone for our judges was the corned-beef eggs benedict. The savory flavors melted into the English muffins they came with, leaving us with a filling meal that we kept sneaking bites from long after we said we were full.

So, with clean plates all around, which of these honorable establishments truly is NoCo's Best? We'd give the award to all of them, if we could, but 2021 our winner is...just kidding, we're not telling you here! You'll have to wait until the Taste to find out!

NoCo's Best is an annual program that recognizes the best Northern Colorado restaurants and food selected by the residents of Fort Collins, Loveland, Greeley and NoCo towns.
