As many as 15,000 costumed bike riders filled the streets of Fort Collins on Saturday for a record-breaking 12th Annual Tour De FatAccording to reports from the Coloradoan, this was the largest turnout ever for the event which has 13 stops across the country including Denver and Chicago. It's good to have "The Mothership" here in Fort Collins!

Kama, Derek and myself were out and about, cameras in hand, searching for the best costumes we could find. We saw thousands of TDF-ers, but we still probably only saw a fraction of the great costumes. Below are five of my favorites, along with a link to see ALL the photos we snagged.

mario kart

There were a few groups of 'Mario Kart' costumes, but this crew took the cake with all ten characters dressed to the nines. I think the hair color and spines on King Koopa that put 'em over the top for me.

Futurama

One of my favortie shows came to life at TDF. An entire Planet Express crew from 'Futurama'.

Rosie the Riveter

We can do it? Yes we can! Rosie The Riveter complete with a Fat Tire tattoo on her arm.

Sunshine Samurai

Another beer-themed costume stood out to me. A hand made set of Samurai armor stitched together from flattened Sunshine cans. Epic. (She said it took her about two years to put it together!)

The Residents

These Residents didn't miss a single detail in their TDF get-ups.

Buddy Christ

And of course Buddy Christ. Nothing overly-extravagant with this one, but I was just excited to get my picture with the infamous character. (Watch "Dogma" if you have no idea what that is all about.)

Like I said, with 15 thousand participants there was no way for us to see  all of the costumes, or even get good pictures of all the great ones we did see. So, don't feel slighted if you worked really hard on your outfit and didn't get any recognition here. I''ll bet it was amazing. I was pretty much in sensory overload trying to take in all the madness happening.

What was the best costume you saw at the biggest Tour De Fat ever?
