Garden of Lights at Spring Creek

 

We were lucky enough to visit the Garden of Lights at Spring Creek this weekend.  Thousands of LED lights are artfully strewn through trees and in unique garden displays.  The lights are on every evening from 5-8pm through New Years Eve.  This is a fun outing with kids or romantic stroll for a date night.  Check out all the pictures above or the video below for a great preview of what to expect and bundle up!

Veterans Day Events in Northern Colorado

Today is 11/11/11! Veterans Day! It's a day to pay tribute to our veterans! November 11th marks the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. There are a number of events planned in Northern Colorado today through the weekend.

A teacher at Kinard Middle School in Fort Collins is becoming a YouTube sensation. Chris Bergmann's science demonstration videos get thousands of views and his 'exploding pumpkin' video is closing in on one million views. It was even featured on Jay Leno earlier this week. Check it out below.

I witnessed the "branch removal" process at my house yesterday. The City of Fort Collins is working incredibly hard to clean up all the tree debris and branches left in piles around the city after last week's snowstorm

Fort Collins to Offer No-Cost Tree Branch Removal

The City of Fort Collins is currently working with community partners including Colorado State University, Larimer County, and others on community clean-up efforts. The City will offer no-cost branch removal and recycling assistance to all residents beginning Monday, Oct. 31; work is scheduled to be complete by the end of November.

School Closures Update – Winter Storm Warning Continues

The winter weather arrived with a vengeance last night. Lots thick, wet, heavy snow so far.I woke up to about half of my trees touching the ground and some pretty big branches already snapped off. Not fun. Read more for our latest list of school/road closures.

We're hearing reports of power outages in Windsor, Johnstown, Berthoud, Fort Collins and Loveland. Snow reports we're getting have 10+ inches in Greeley, 6-8 inches in Windsor, and 4-6 inches in Fort Collins with more snow still falling.

The Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 p.m. tonight with 3-6 more inches of snow in the forecast.
