Who Will The New PA Announcer For The Colorado Eagles Be?

Two loud and animated words... "Eeeeeeeeeeeegles Goal!" will forever be synonyms with legendary Public Address Announcer, Reed Saunders. Twenty long years, and hundreds of games in the box at the Budweiser events center. Reed has been the PA voice for the Eagles since their inaugural season twenty years ago. In that time he's announced every major Eagles event in the team's history, including 4 Championship final series match-ups. Technically five if you count the one finals that they lost in the CHL. Bottom line, Reed Saunders has been THE voice of the Colorado Eagles for two decades and will be sorely missed after this season. The question on everybody's mind is, who's next?

This past Tuesday, March 14th, in an empty BEC, public auditions were held for all of the arena voices, including the main Public Address Announcer, the PA backup, the Arena Host backup, and a newly created Sideline Reporter. Judges of the auditions included Eagles President Ryan Bach, Eagles Radio Voice Kevin McGlue, myself (Big Rob), and the man himself, Reed Saunders. We spent over 5 hours listening to some really great auditions yesterday for the 2023-24 season at the future "Blue Arena," so what's next?

Now that the live auditions in the arena are done, the team will move on with in-person interviews with the favorites from yesterday's performances. Having been there, I can tell you that this is going to be an extremely tough choice for the Eagles' brass. But honestly, it has to be, right? You're replacing an iconic voice and public figure that has been there from the start. You have to get it right. Rest assured though Eagles Country, while replacing Reed will be a large mountain to climb, you're going to be in good hands with whoever is chosen as his successor, because there are some great "dawgs" in this hunt. The announcement from the team will be coming soon.
