Even though it is a game between two schools that have been basically irrelevant in college football for the better half of the last decade the Rocky Mountain Showdown between the University of Colorado and Colorado State University still creates quite a bit of buzz. Enough buzz that even the President of the United States mentioned the game in his speech at CSU yesterday. Who do you think will win the game Saturday?

CSU and CU won’t ever have the kind of rivalry that exists between in-state schools Alabama and Auburn or Texas and Texas A&M or Southern California and UCLA. They don’t play in the same conferences and don’t have the kind of rich football tradition that makes those battles special. Plus, I believe having the game in Denver at Sports Authority Field at Mile High actually hurts the rivalry.

Never the less, the two schools not only want to beat one another, but also want to get their seasons started the right way, with a win. Winning has mostly belonged to CU. Colorado leads the all-time series 61–20–2, have won the last two, and seven of the last ten meetings.
