A 23-year-old Fort Collins man was arrested on Monday, May 4, after he allegedly assaulted a delivery driver outside of an apartment building.

Just before 8 a.m., the Fort Collins Police responded to reports of a disturbance between two males outside of an apartment building in the 2600 block of Raintree Drive.

Upon investigating, officers determined that the suspect, Eissa Alameri, had contacted an on-demand shopping service to have items delivered to his residence. When the delivery driver arrived at the door, Alameri attacked him with a knife.

Despite the unexpected attacked, the delivery driver was able to disarm Alameri and retreat to a safe location until police arrived. According to the report, the delivery driver is a 55-year-old male, and sustained minor injuries during the incident. He was treated by medical crews at the scene.

When officers made contact with Alameri, he refused to comply and proceeded to threaten them with a knife. The suspect then fled on foot and barricaded himself in a nearby stairwell.

Police were ultimately able to take Alameri into custody around 8:30 a.m. He was booked into the Larimer County Jail on charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder (class 3 felony), Second Degree Assault (class 4 felony), and Menacing (class 5 felony).
