We have all received or bestowed a gift card as a present for the holidays at one time or another. They are the go-to gift for the people who are just out of ideas or too busy to get any real gift shopping done. Heck, according to research collected by Bankrate.com and the Princeton Survey Research Associates International shows that 72% of us given a gift card while 84% have received one. However, not all gift cards are created equal.

We learned during the Morning Show that least popular gift cards was one for movie tickets with only 4% of people wanting them. This only beat out the iTunes gift card that was at a whopping 5%.

The most common dollar value of a gift card ranges from $25 to $50 with 25% of Women and 19% of men wanting that gift card to be from a specific retail store. Not surprising, despite the fact that most of them have a purchase fee, 48% of adults would prefer a gift card from a bank or credit card company, such as Visa or MasterCard.

Here's something to consider when it comes to getting gift card for that late-teen to 20-something. They would prefer a gift card that they can redeem using their phones. This is because a stunning 40% has admitted to loosing a gift card before they have used it.
