We've seen people beat super-computers at games like chess, but it looks like robots will always have the upper hand when it comes to the classic game of Rock, Paper, Scissors.

This video shows a robot that was created at Ishikawa Oku Laboratory in Japan.  It can, and will, beat human opponents at Rock, Paper, Scissors every time.  Nobody said the robot plays fair, though...

...the robot cheats. By watching the image from a camera that can determine the position of your hand every millisecond, it is aware of your move the very moment you make it. And as soon as your hand starts to form that rock, the robot is giving you some paper to wrap it up. At the very end of the video, you can see the tiny delay between the human making a move and the robot reacting —  but it happens so fast that you wouldn't notice except when shown in slow-motion.

The robot was built not only to show how good robots are at simple games, but to show how quickly robots can respond to human input.  This could have incredible applications when it comes to things like prostheses, or even unmanned military equipment.

Cool, huh?
