Stuff That's Cool

Wouldn't it be nice if you could charge your phone or power your TV without having to run wires all over the place.  Looks like that may not be as far off as you think!

Today, it's just a glove.  Tomorrow...Iron Man!

By now, you know I'm a huge movie fan.  And I've always loved martial arts movies that can take both choreography and film-making to the next level.  Leave it to Keanu Reeves to do just that!

Back in April, Google released a concept video for an augmented reality product called "Project Glass."  Then, just a couple days ago and less than three months after that original video, Google demonstrated Glass at its developers' conference, Google I/O.  And it was awesome!

We've seen people beat super-computers at games like chess, but it looks like robots will always have the upper hand when it comes to the classic game of Rock, Paper, Scissors.

The only bad thing about this is the fact that no matter how much money I throw at the computer screen, nothing happens.

Becoming a superhero is one of those lofty goals that fills the daydreams of geeks everywhere (myself included).  So when I heard that a bunch of students at Utah State University had invented a way to climb walls like Spider-Man, I was obviously pretty excited.

Making the bed isn't necessarily hard, but it can be time-consuming and tedious.  If you're lazy like me, that's plenty of reason to put it off.  Luckily, Spanish furniture-maker OHEA has a solution to this annoying first-world problem.

In the video game world, a major objective is immersion.  Make the player feel like they're in the game as much as possible.  This controller prototype takes that concept to a completely different (and awesome) level.

Right before the Playstation 3 came out, game developer Square Enix showed a tech demo of what could be done with the upcoming generation of game graphics.  At this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, they released another tech demo...and it looks AWESOME.

The Electronic Entertainment Expo is going on right now in Los Angeles.  If you're not familiar, "E3" is basically one of the largest video game trade shows in the world, where all the top developers show off their latest projects and advancements.  Based on the things coming out of this year's E3, it looks like video games are definitely making some incredible strides.

If you know me, you also know I'm a Star Trek fan.  I don't think I'm quite as hard core a fan as some folks, but I did go to the Star Trek Experience in Las Vegas a few times before they tore it out.  So I'm enough of a fan to think that building a real, working USS Enterprise starship is a fantastic idea.  One engineer has that dream, and he says it's completely possible with current technology.
