It's no secret that we've lost, and continue to lose some truly fantastic local restaurants around Colorado. Most recently we've told you about Kenny's Steakhouse in Greeley, Colorado, and Farmers Inn in LaSalle, Colorado.

It's not just local favorites that we're losing around the state, we've seen some national favorites get their plugs pulled in certain locations as well like Burger King, TGI Fridays just to name a couple. Now, one more iconic brand is set to close over 100 locations.

Originally launched in 1953 as a coffee shop called "Danny's Donuts" in Lakewood, California, what we now know as Denny's has over 1600 locations. That number will be dropping by at least 50 by the end of 2024, and 150 by the end of 2025.

During an earnings call on Tuesday, October 22nd, it was announced that 150 Denny's location will be closing to, as they put it, "strengthen cash flow."  50 of the famous diner's underperforming locations will be closed by the end of December, while the other 100 will close throughout 2025.

While there are some newer and nicely remodeled locations, that are many that have been around for decades are in very rough shape. Many of those will be on the closure list.

During the meeting, Stephen Dunn, who is Denny’s Executive Vice President and Chief Global Development Officer said:

Some of these restaurants can be very old. So when you think of a 70-year-old plus brand, you have a lot of restaurants that have been out there for a very long time

As of this writing, Denny's has not announced which 150 Denny's locations will close, but Colorado already lost eight local locations back in 2017 over tax issues with a franchise owner, so hopefully the remaining Colorado locations will make the cut.
