When the Chick comes a calling, people get crazy for chicken. Dozens of people showed up 24 hours before the grand opening of the first stand alone Chick-fil-A in Greeley.

The store will give away more than $30,000 in free food to the first 100 people in line for the opening tomorrow, March 27, 2014. Each of the first 100 people will win a free Chick-fil-A meal for a year. (Adults must be at least 18 with a valid ID)

Tents have already been assembled and 125 people are scrambling for their spot in line for the official opening tomorrow. It could be a long night, but for those camping out for free food it is sure to be a fun filled night. And they will likely all have a huge appetite come morning (it is suppose to rain/snow tonight with an overnight low expected to be around freezing)

The opening of the Greeley store at 4555 Centerplace Drive is 1 of 4 in the metro Denver area and the second so far to open. There will be two more chances to get in on the free food, April 3 in Greenwich Village and April 10 in Lakewood. (the new Greeley store is bringing 70 new jobs to the area)

Today at the Greeley location they are accepting non-perishable food items to help feed the community. Chick-fil-A will give you a card for a free sandwich until 7 p.m. tonight.

Chick-fil-A has been surprised by the dedication of its fans, they have been doing the "First 100" at every grand opening since 2004 and has given away $21 million in free food at more than 750 grand openings.
