New Name And Theme For Iconic Coaster At Colorado’s Elitch Gardens. Like It?
After almost three decades, Colorado's most Iconic roller coaster, located at Elitch Gardens, will be receiving a newly updated name and theme heading into the 2023 season.
Iconic Colorado Roller Coaster To Change
I was spoiled as a kid living in Colorado. My home state was the home of one of the most iconic amusement parts in the entire world. The original Elitch Gardens was a place where some of my earliest and fondest memories were created. Be it the famous "log ride," or their iconic roller coasters, the" Wild Cat," which was the very first coaster I ever rode on, the "Sidewinder," which still operates to this day, or the world-famous "Mr. Twister." Elitches has always been a place near and dear to my heart. When the park moved to its current location in 1995, a brand new version of "Mr. Twister" was built, and while it was very similar in parts to the original, the "Twister II" was a whole different experience. Now, 28 years later, the Twister legacy, has another, get ready for it, twist. Check out the below videos of the original Mr. Twister, and Twister II.

Elitch Gardens Renames and Rethemes Iconic Twister II Roller Coaster
The legendary Elitch Gardens Theme Park, which is the largest in Colorado, announced this week that its famous Twister II roller coaster has been reimagined and refurbished ahead of the 2023 season. The newly named "Twister III: Storm Chaser" will include a 100-foot pitch-black tunnel featuring the winds, sounds, and sight of an actual tornado. Elitch Gardens describes the new version of the coaster as:
A 10-story superstructure featuring a 90-foot drop and a 100-foot, pitch-black tunnel that features the sights, sounds and winds of a real tornado. It is the longest coaster in the park! Experience 4,640 feet of track and up to 3.1 G-F that is more than three times your normal body weight! Twister II and Twister III: Storm Chaser are longer and taller versions of the original Mr. Twister roller coaster that opened at the park’s previous location in 1964.
