In Fort Collins, does this even shock you anymore? A Campus West shopping center will soon be leveled to make way for, of course, more student housing, and will displace 'Fort Collins' oldest pizza restaurant.'

In a Facebook post, Panhandler's Pizza, which has been on West Elizabeth just blocks from the CSU campus for over four decades, announced that they are looking for a new location at the end of the year.

'No, Panhandler's is NOT closing,' they said in the Facebook post. '...We are currently looking for new digs at the moment so once we solidify the details on the new place, you fellow panhandlers will be the first to know! If you want to enjoy the nostalgia of our current location before we move and get a slice, come on down! We would love to have you.'

That post references an article from the Coloradoan, which revealed 'high-end student housing' will be built where Panhandler's, Village Vidiot and several other businesses currently are. [Read it here.]

We heard about this after a Fort Collins resident, Gary Clark, shared a photo on the 'You know you grew up in Fort Collins, CO if you remember...' Facebook page.

'Panhandler's opened in the mid-1970s when I was a student at Fort Collins High (home of the mighty Lambkins!) and it never changed a bit in all the subsequent years,' Clark said in the Facebook post. 'It's sad losing those places that bring back a flood of youthful memories simply by walking through the door. But if you've lived in Fort Collins for very long, that's just the way things are.'

If you want to sit by the fireplace and enjoy Panhandler's in its long-time location, make sure it's on your 2017 bucket list.
