A man's body was found by a passing hiker just before 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.

According to a news release from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, the witness had been hiking with her dogs near the Sourdough Trailhead, south of the main parking lot when her dogs began barking on a tent near the trail. As she walked closer to the one-person tent, she could see a body covered in flies inside.

After she was unable to verbally get the attention of the person inside, the hiker returned to a location with cell service and called 911.

The male victim's identity is unknown, but investigators believe he is in his 40s. The coroner's office is working to identify the victim and determine cause and manner of his death, but investigators think he had been dead for several days. No foul play is suspected.

The man's body doesn't match the description of any individuals reported missing in the area.
