Something everyone can relate to: Blood.  We all have it and some need it more than others, especially now.

Since we are heading into the holiday weekend, a Colorado blood center has issued a plea to Coloradans to help replenish the state’s dangerously low blood supply.

KDVR reported, according to Bonfils Blood Center, the state’s blood supply have reached dangerously low levels as Memorial Day weekend approaches.

Jessica Maitland, a spokeswoman for the center, said blood donations typically see a decline over Memorial Day weekend and throughout the summer because people are out of town or spending more time outdoors.

Here's how to help:

Bonfils Blood Center runs six community donor centers in the Denver metro area as well as one in Colorado Springs.

The center also operates several mobile blood drives in cities and towns throughout the state. Information and locations regarding upcoming drives can be found on the blood center’s website.
