Colorado Mammoth One Win Away From NLL Championship

I remember when the Colorado Mammoth first brought the game of Box Lacrosse to the Pepsi Center (now Ball Arena) and how exciting it was to see this high-speed, action-packed sport in person. Up until that point, the only time I had even heard about the sport of lacrosse was because "Oz" and "Stiffler" played it in the movie American Pie. I'm so sorry to admit that by the way.

Fast forward a few seasons to 2006 and Gary Gait, current Mammoth Head Coach, Pat Coyle, and many other LAX legends were bringing home Colorado's first National Lacrosse League Championship. The team was on fire and Colorado was loving their Colorado Mammoth. It's been 16 years since we beat the Buffalo Bandits for the Cup in 2006, and now we're just one win away from bringing home a second NLL Championship by beating, ironically, the Buffalo Bandits.

Colorado Mammoth vs. Buffalo Bandits In Winner Take All Game 3

I was there on Saturday night as the Mammoth took on Buffalo and what an exciting game it was. Since Buffalo had one victory in this best of three series, had they won, they would have won the Cup on our turf. I had a whole script for a possible trophy presentation had the outcome been different, which quite honestly would probably have made me cry to read. Fortunately, the boys came through and defeated the Bandits 11-8 to force a game three to decide who gets the cup this Saturday Night.

Catch the Colorado Mammoth vs Buffalo Bandits this Saturday night at 6 pm MT on ESPN+. Other options to watch this game 3 extravaganza will be released by the team later this week. One. More. WIn. Go Mammoth.
