Editors Note: We received a call from Todd Sharpe at Costco who claims this was only three hours, and have updated the article information with this claim.

Colorado Costco stores are the go-to to buy in bulk or to just find deals for everyday items around your house. When Costco stores face in-house failures like an entire refrigeration system being down, it makes things tricky for the staff and customers.

Do you remember your first trip inside of a Costco, or a Price Club if you're really old school? The sheer size of these stores is pretty impressive on its own, but the number of items stacked ceiling-high could almost be overwhelming. We loved it though!

Whether you're buying in bulk for a business, or you just like to buy the "Costco-sized" portions to last you a while, Costco has you covered. From home goods to utensils, food and drinks, even clothes, entertainment, medicine, and more, they've got just about everything.

A lot of people shop at Costco for their frozen foods, or meats and produce. One extremely popular Costco had a massive equipment failure and it was a nightmare for both the staff, and the consumers there to buy these now unavailable products.

Timnath, Colorado Costco Has Massive Refrigeration System Fail

The Costco in Timnath, Colorado, at the corner of I-25 and Harmony, was dealing with some major cooling issues this week. Speaking with one local employee on Monday, the refrigeration system went out over the weekend and had yet to be repaired as of Monday afternoon.

A second source reached out to say the outage happened on Monday, not over the weekend. Another employee source, named Todd Sharpe, argued that the outage was closer to three hours than three days, but why block the freezers if it were only a few hours? Just temporarily block the isles, right? It would seemingly take longer than three hours just to move the pallets and empty all of the coolers.

As seen in the pic above, the coolers where their meats and other chilled food were empty.

They had also blocked all of the freezers, but they appeared to be full of food, maybe they didn't want people to try and buy it anyway. Food can spoil pretty easily if the freezer shuts down, even for just a little bit, so good on the staff to take the extra precautions.

The same for the produce and dairy areas. Hopefully, they were able to get this stuff to the nearest Costco in Longmont so they didn't lose all of the food that needed cooling, but the employee wasn't clear about what the process was with the food that was in the coolers when the failure happened.

Ironically we saw a similar issue in the local King Soopers in Firestone over the weekend as well. It could have something to do with the hot weather, but neither store confirmed that.

These pictures were taken the afternoon of Monday, June 17th, and we were told the issue was repaired and back up and running as of Tuesday the 18th. We're still unclear as to how long the issue lasted because of multiple claims from multiple employee sources. The issue is fixed now, so we can all return to our happy Costco shopping lives.
