Of the dozens and dozens of movies that Francis Fort Coppola's nephew Nicolas Cage has done, we've selected six to represent the Fort Collins/Northern Colorado area.

I bet you could get 20 people into a room and get twenty different answers to 'What's your favorite Nicolas Cage movie?' The man has done a very, very wide range of roles. Action, comedy, more action, romance, more action, western, action.

Clearly, he's done a lot of action movies, but we didn't use just action movies to designate these cities/towns around Fort Collins as the best fits for his movies. I think you could put two or three of his films onto these towns, he does have quite the catalog.

I remember seeing 'Leaving Las Vegas' when it came out. Holy, moly; what a sad and bleak movie. Then, there was 'Raising Arizona.' So funny, so brilliant. I remember a buddy and I seeing 'The Rock;' it could not have been more fun. Who didn't see 'National Treasure'? The man has done a lot of crummy movies, but he has been in some great ones.

Let's take a look at six of his films and what cities/towns around our area best fit.

GREELEY

'Gone in 60 Seconds' fits Greeley if only because the fast cars. Greeley is known for cars drag racing along Highway 34, I can even see Kip grabbing a beer at Outriders.

DRAKE

Pig

In 'Pig' Cage plays a reclusive famous (former) chef who lives in the woods, but has to go into town to find his stolen truffle hunting pig. I can easily picture Rob living up in Drake. Close to Estes, but not Estes; people would just leave him be.

WELLINGTON

Ghost-Rider

Wellington and motorcycles go hand in hand. I'm not saying Johnny Blaze tools around Wellington at night with his skull on fire, but the town has been a stop for road rallies and weekend rides, for decades.

LOVELAND

Moonstruck

Nic hasn't done many romantic movies, it's not really his wheelhouse. One that he was in netted Cher an Oscar, however. 'Moonstruck' is a romantic-comedy-drama that fits Loveland's 'Sweetheart City' moniker.

STERLING

Indeed, Sterling is a bit far from Fort Collins, but what better town to use for 'The Rock.' Imagine Mason and Goodspeed trying to break into the Sterling Correctional Facility to get a prisoner out who can help them break into a secret bank. This movie writes itself.

FORT COLLINS

'National Treasure' fits Fort Collins, because Fort Collins is very popular and Nic's 2004 hit is very popular, too. How many times have you seen it come up on cable and said 'Wait, leave it here.'

HONORABLE MENTION - TIMNATH

It's hard to mention 'National Treasure' and not include Riley Poole. Timnath does seem like the younger, hipper, version of Fort Collins, if not really as popular.
