Fort Collins, meet Lovelytheband. No, my space bar isn't broken, broken like me — it's all one word. They'll be kickin' off this year's Taste of Fort Collins on Friday, June 7.

While I'm sure you know their song 'Broken,' let's get to know the three guys behind it — Mitchy Collins, Sam Price and Jordan Greenwald — a little better.

1) They're Just Like Us

Lovelytheband met by sliding into each other's DMs on Instagram back in 2016. Singer Mitchy Collins told Billboard, 'I slid into [Price's] DMs, and we got Chinese food. Everything was better after the Chinese food.'

If anyone wants to slide into my DMs and take me to Chinese food, maybe we could have a #1 song, too. OK, probably not, but I wouldn't complain. And hey, it worked out for them.

2) Their Band Name Was Inspired by Chicken Wings

Have you ever had chicken wings that were so good you just couldn't get over it? Well, the guys were at Dave & Busters eating wings, which they described as 'lovely,' and, well, the rest is history...

** DO NO THROW WINGS ONTO THE STAGE AT TASTE OF FORT COLLINS. I REPEAT: NO FLYING WINGS. **

It's too messy.

3) Lovelytheband Set a Record With Their First-Ever Single, 'Broken'

Pretty impressive, right? Billboard reported that as of March 2, 2019, the band's song had spent 66 weeks on the alternative charts, which is kind of a big deal. The longevity of 'Broken' placed the newcomers above past record-holders Rise Against, Cold War Kids and Arctic Monkeys.

'Lovelytheband's 'Broken' becomes the longest-running song in the chart's three-decade history, spending its 66th week on the list (dated March 2).' - Billboard.

4) But Once Again, They Are Just Like Us

Collins described his songwriting to The Daily Californian as 'dealing with depression and anxiety, girls who won’t love me back, relationships I’ve f***ed up, selfish behavior, you know, just my life.'

Sorry, I missed that, I was busy RELATING SO MUCH.

5) They Love the '80s

This group of Millennials is inspired by Van Halen, Def Leppard (my favorite band of all time) and Bruce Springsteen... perhaps maybe Springfield, too?

You can see Lovelytheband in Washington Park on Friday, June 7 at Taste of Fort Collins 2019, sponsored by First National Bank. Want to open for Lovelytheband? Submit your music HERE.
