According to 9news, the largest earthquake to strike Colorado in almost 40 years woke up hundred of people southwest of Trinidad last night (About 270 miles south of Fort Collins).

The earthquake was recorded around 11:46 p.m. and registered as a magnitude 5.3 quake. It had been preceded by 2 smaller quakes and followed by a handful of smaller aftershocks.

The quake is the largest in Colorado since a magnitude 5.7 was recorded in 1973, U.S. Geological Service geophysicist Amy Vaughn said. That one was centered in the northwestern part of the state - about 50 miles north of Grand Junction, she said.

A few homes have been damaged and deputies were investigating reports of rockslides along a highway, a Las Animas County Sheriff's Office dispatcher said.

I've never felt an earthquake of any kind, I can only imagine how strange it must be to have the earth shaking beneath my feet.Part of me really wants to experience one, but just a little one...really little.
