We here in Colorado are no strangers to wildfires. Obviously, fires pose a very real threat to our health in that they can potentially take lives, but even if you're far from the blaze, you could be in danger.

The Poudre Fire Authority (PFA) sent out a press release earlier today warning that wildfires create a significant smoke danger, and by inhaling this smoke you could be victim to multiple health risks. This includes eye irritation, coughing, and difficulty breathing.

How do you know if you're at risk? The PFA says "If you see or smell smoke, air quality may be affected"... It's pretty simple. But what, exactly, are the best steps to take to avoid these negative health risks?

The PFA says to take measures like staying indoors if you can (which isn't too difficult during this pandemic), running your fans to circulate air, changing air filters, and avoiding lighting candles or smoking inside. For more information on how you can stay safe, subscribe to the PFA's local alerts right here.
