This summer might be a good time to avoid Lemay Avenue.

Starting on July 6, the street will be fully closed north of Lincoln Avenue to allow for construction work on the new Lemay Avenue bridge.

According to a press release from the City of Fort Collins, the road will also be closed between Vine Drive and Confier Street due to street construction for the Northfield development.

During this time, drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists will be unable to access Lemay Avenue north of the Lincoln Avenue intersection. Turning north on Lemay from Vine and turning south on Lemay from Conifer will also be prohibited.

"The Lemay closure at Lincoln will allow crews to conduct utility work and widen existing Lemay Avenue, which will prepare the area to tie into the new bridge and alignment," read the release. "The City opted for a full closure in order to ultimately minimize disruptions in the area. Crews will be able to complete the work in about half the time it would take were traffic permitted to be in the area."

Drivers will still be able to access businesses at 225 N. Lemay Avenue — including Snowback Brewing, Paws 'N Claws Veterinary Clinic, Waypoint Real Estate, and more — by turning south after taking Vine Drive or Buckingham Street to 9th Street and Lemay.

The closures are expected to last until mid-August. Learn more about the construction projects here.
