When can we expect to see our first snow in Fort Collins?

Probably not anytime soon, but it wouldn't hurt to start getting ready for when the snow does start falling. The extended forecast calls for high in the 70's through the next 10 days. But snow in September is not unheard of.

According to city data on Wikipedia, we actually see an average of 1.4 inches of snow in Fort Collins for the month of September, 3.7 inches for October and more and more as the winter progresses. Based on our climate history our first snowfall has taken place in as early as the beginning of September, and as late as mid-November.

You ask any Colorado Native and you'll probably hear that most of us expect to see at least some snow by Halloween.  Last year we didn't see our first real flakes until November 10th.
