The Humane Society of Weld County posts a facebook post every Sunday that they have named "Senior Sunday" where they spotlight an older dog that is up for adoption. Through social media they hope that older dogs get more of a chance for a loving home because older dogs just don't get adopted as easy as puppies. I am one to make a high pitched noise when I see a puppy so I completely understand the appeal, but Betty stole my heart just as much as a puppy does. One look at her and you see how sweet she is. It shows through her still youthful, puppy eyes. As I write this, I am thinking about going to go get her, she is so adorable!

This is what I love about the Humane Society of Weld County. They try to give every dog a shot at a great home. They don't get a lot of recognition in the lime light but still try to have creative and fun fundraisers for the shelter and show how much they care. They also posted on their Facebook that they are in need of dry dog food. So even if your circumstances don't allow for a pet at this time, a bag of dog food can be just as helpful to the dogs at the shelter. So please, pick up an extra bag when you go out to buy your own dog's food or just a quick trip to the grocery store and drop off to help out! They take Purina and Pedigree and you can even donate through their Amazon Wishlist!
