Loveland native Logan Stewart was determined to play football for Colorado State University.

The only problem? The 2016 Mountain View High School graduate didn't have any Division I football offers when he graduated high school.

But still chasing his dream, Stewart turned down an opportunity to join to the CSU track team to instead play Junior College football at Iowa Central Community College.

The slight diversion paid off. Stewart made 66 tackles at Iowa Central Community College and he was able to walk-on to the Rams squad. The walk-on spot eventually turned into a scholarship.

"It was definitely a difficult journey but it was all worth it in the end," Stewart said.

Stewart started all 12 games in his 2019 debut for CSU, making 76 tackles on the season. He was named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week in a win over Fresno State where he made seven tackles and made a pair of clutch interceptions that set up CSU's go-ahead drive and then iced the victory.

Stewart made 16 tackles and forced a fumble in the shortened four-game season of 2020.

Stewart and the Rams are now in the midst of spring football, with a scrimmage coming this weekend. The 6-foot-1 senior defensive back sat down for the latest Ram Jam interview on his long journey to CSU.

Ram Jampresented by Bank of Colorado, is a new weekly magazine show that gives you exclusive access to everything CSU sports. The 30-minute shows airs at 7 p.m. every Wednesday on Townsquare Media's Power 102.9, Home of the Rams.
