Stamp out your cigarette and put down your vape.

Windsor has banned smoking and vaping in its recreation areas, according to The Coloradoan

The ban began on January 1, and applies to any town-owned parks, trails, and natural areas in Windsor.

The goal of the new rule is to create a safer environment for children and young adult users of these areas.

Prohibited items include cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos, pipes, and electronic cigarettes.

If you still want to get your nicotine fix, you'll have to stick to the areas' parking lots, which are not affected by the ban.

Windsor is not the first Northern Colorado town to enact such a rule.

Fort Collins banned smoking in recreational areas in 2015. The city expanded the ban to Old Town in 2016.
