I like to call Pac-Man the original horror survival game because, in my mind its true. You are roaming around just trying to eat and survive, while four ghosts chase you around. Pretty creepy. Anyway, the reason I am talking about this classic game is because I just found out five facts about it that I didn't know.

1. The point of the game was to attract girls

Now, I know a lot of female gamers, so I was kind of shocked when I learned this. I guess things were a bit different back then. The games creator,  Iwantani said this about it, "The reason I created Pac-Man was because we wanted to attract female gamers," he says. "Back then, there were no home games. People had to go to the arcade center to play games. That was a playground for boys. It was dirty and smelly. So we wanted to include female players, so it would become cleaner and brighter."

2. Each ghost had specific orders

I always knew there was a pattern, but I thought they followed you in a pattern. Apparently the only one that follows you is Blinky, the red ghost. Pinky (pink ghost) and Inky (blue ghost) position themselves around Pac-Man, while Clyde (orange ghost) moves completely at random.

3. What, exactly, does Pac-Man mean?

I have always heard the story of this. Pac-Man was originally called "Puck-Man", but a Midway Games official changed it to Pac-Man to keep teens from scratching out part of the "P" to make it obscene.

4.The missing puzzle piece

Pac-Man supposed to have a shelter. "I wanted to have a shelter and it would move up and down," Iwantani says. "When the ghost comes, the ghost would be pinched by the shelter which would disfigure the ghost." I am kind of glad this didn't happen. I think it would of made the game not as fun.

5. The ghosts were almost just one color

I am so, so glad they decided to do different colors. How boring would it be to play it and have four ghosts the same color chasing you? They originally wanted them all red, but the games developer fought it and that is why we now have four different color ghosts.

Well, there you have it. 5 facts you might not have known. I know now thanks to the Yahoo Article that you can check out by clicking HERE. Now, I need to find an arcade that has this and see if I can figure out the pattern and get the high score.
