Officers Save Dog from Icy Pond in Fort Collins

What was playtime for Khloe the dog turned into a scary and unexpected swim in a Fort Collins pond.

According to the Fort Collins Police Services Facebook page, community service officers responded to a thin ice incident on Sunday in which Khloe (pictured) fell into a local pond. Poudre Fire Authority also responded and were able to rescue her successfully.

Fort Collins Police Services caution that while a pond's surface may look solid, fluctuating temperatures and sunny days can create dangerously thin spots that aren't always obvious. It's also worth noting that not every thin ice incident has a happy ending such as Khloe's.
