Residents of the Northern Hotel got a super early morning wake up call Thursday morning.

Poudre Fire Authority reported that storied 172 N. College Ave. facility was evacuated in the wee hours of the morning because of a fire.

Residents were initially taken to the nearby Opera Galleria. North bound College Ave. was temporarily closed for emergency crews.

PFA said that the fire was limited to one room in the basement and was eventually extinguished by a sprinkler head.

The facility that now houses apartments has operated since 1873 and has been known as the Northern Hotel since 1904.
