Now boarding and taking off at Northern Colorado Regional Airport: commercial flights. On Wednesday, the first commercial flight since 2015 took off from the runway at NoCo Regional

According to CBS Denver, Avelo Airlines is a new airline that started their nonstop service to Los Angeles back in April, and get this, the tickets are only $39 one way. From NoCo Regional you can fly directly to Hollywood's Burbank Airport.

About 180 passengers were on board the historic flight, a Boeing 737-800

It was pretty cool because there were a bunch of big wigs from the airport and public officials from Fort Collins and Loveland that gathered together near the edge of the tarmac to celebrate the event.

This has been something that's been in the works for a while now but had to be delayed due to issues upgrading the air traffic control tower.

Avelo Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy had this to say:

Getting to Los Angeles from Northern Colorado is now easier and more affordable than ever. We’re excited to take flight today to one of the world’s most beautiful and popular vacation destinations. This new route demonstrates our commitment to inspiring more people to travel to and from the region’s most convenient airport.

So, if you're looking for an excuse for an adventure and getaway, inexpensive and nonstop flights practically from our backyard sound like a pretty good excuse for me.

My next mission is to check the Denver Nuggets schedule and find out when they play the Lakers in L.A. because THAT would be amazing for me.
