A tragic hit-and-run accident on northbound I-25 left one dead early Thursday morning.

According to Fox31 Denver, a motorcyclist was struck by a vehicle just before 1 a.m. on June 27, between Exit 268 (Prospect Road)  and Exit 265 (CO 68; Harmony Road) in Fort Collins. After hitting the motorcyclist, the driver of the vehicle fled from the scene, causing police to set up a perimeter along the highway and closing the southbound lanes for several hours, while they searched for the suspect.

The investigation led Colorado State Patrol to arrest Kassy Mae Winburn, who was booked into the Larimer County Jail on charges of Vehicular Homicide, Driving After Revocation, DUI/DWAI, Unlawful Act at Injury/Death ACC, and Failure to Report an Accident.

The motorcyclist's name has not yet been released.
