What is wrong with the world?! I just stumbled on a story from CNN about a mother who is giving her 8-year-old daughter botox injections every three months.  And You won't believe why she's doing it.

Video news story from CNN.

She wants her daughter to be a superstar and claims that the botox will keep her baby face longer and make it easier for her daughter to become a star. Are you serious?! She's eight!

The mom also says that people shouldn't judge her because the tests the botox out on herself first.

Now the quote from the little girl getting the injections,

"I check every night fro wrinkles, when I see some I want more injections. They used to hurt, but now I don't cry that much. I also want a boob and nose job soon, so that I can be a star."

Now keep in mind, those are words from an 8-YEAR-OLD GIRL! I am sick to my stomach that, as a culture, we have created this kind of feeling for a little girl.  And angry that her mom is not only condoning it, but encouraging it.

I am not against all plastic surgeries.  Some people have things that cause problems and need to be fixed.  And some people get a big self-confidence boost with some botox now and again.  I can live with that.  But this need to be "perfect" has gone way too far.  Kids shouldn't have to worry about being famous, about how many wrinkles they'll get someday, or  about the inches on their waist.  Kids need to laugh and have fun and learn to find out what truly makes them happy.

All the plastic surgery in the world will never fix the trauma to this little girl's self-consciousness.  Our culture and her mother have basically instilled in her that if she is not unnaturally beautiful she'll never be anything.  Its sick, sad, and wrong.
