Denver mothers will soon have a café where they can get breast milk.

The Mothers' Milk Bank Baby Café is coming to the Staenberg-Loup Jewish Community Center, 350 S. Dahlia Street.

Denver's new Mothers' Milk Bank Baby Café is a national nonprofit organization that offers free professional breastfeeding support to new moms from an international board of certified lactation consultants.

According to the Center for Disease Control, 89 percent of Colorado's new moms initiate breastfeeding, but just 27 percent exclusively breastfeed their baby at only six months old.

The grand opening party will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Feb. 5.

All moms, babies, friends and families are welcome to come to the opening event. There will be a ribbon cutting, refreshments, a raffle, a music class and GroovaRoo demonstrations.

The Mothers’ Milk Bank Baby Café website says:

Our free Baby Café offers parents and their newborns a spot to relax with refreshments; share experiences, tips and techniques; and socialize with other parents in a child-friendly space.

Babies can also be weighed by a lactation consultant before and after feeding.

After the grand opening, the Baby Café will be open every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
