Man Seriously Injured in Crash That Closed Prospect
A 36-year-old Fort Collins man was seriously injured in the crash that closed Prospect Road yesterday (February 18).
The collision occurred around 2:48 p.m. when the man was traveling west on Prospect on his Yamaha motorcycle.
As he approached the intersection with Whitcomb Street, an Audi sedan, that was traveling east on Prospect, turned left to go north onto Whitcomb.
The man then crashed into the rear passenger side of the sedan, sustaining serious injuries. Officials took him to a nearby hospital.
The driver of the sedan was a 19-year-old Fort Collins woman. She was not injured.
The stretch from Shields Street to Centre Avenue was closed on Prospect for three and a half hours while CRASH (Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling) investigated the collision.
Speed was likely a factor in the crash, according to a Facebook post from the Fort Collins Police Services.
Anyone with information about the accident, who has not already given a statement, is asked to call Officer Drew Jurkofsky at (970)-416-2224.
