A lockdown situation at Fort Collins High School kept students safe Thursday morning, but police are still investigating the situation that made the school take the precautionary steps.

According to an email sent to parents by Fort Collins High School principal Mark Eversole, the Fort Collins Police Department alerted school officials of a vehicle with a possible weapon within the vicinity of the school.

Due to the situation, the school was immediately put in lock down mode.

The school was notified by FCPD at 9:26 a.m. that the situation was contained after the suspected vehicle drove into the south parking lot of the high school.

As of the writing of this story, the vehicle and situation was still being investigated by the authorities. No further information has been released to the public.

All students at Fort Collins High School are safe and weren't in any harm during the investigation this morning, with a big thank you going out to the staff at the school for acting quickly.
