According to The Coloradoan, tiered electric rates for Fort Collins Utilities’ customers go into effect this month. These new tiered rates could mean your electric bill will be higher.

The city has a website that lists all the tiers and the costs in each one here. Now, if you're anything like me you probably have no idea what any of those numbers mean and don't know how many kilowatt hours your home uses. Thankfully they do have a calculator on that website  that will estimate your new bill based on rates and your past monthly usage.

Basically, the more electricity you use this summer, the more you'll be paying for it.

Some of them newfangled 'energy-efficient' appliances are looking mighty sweet right about now...
